Philadelphia 76ers Draft Evan Turner With 2nd Pick In SB Nation NBA Mock Draft

The 2010 SB Nation NBA Mock Draft is still underway, with each SB Nation blogger making selections for their respective teams. TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsMichaelBourn, co-blogger at SB Nation's Philadelphia 76ers blog Liberty Ballers and infrequent contributor at Ridiculous Upside, checks in to make the second overall selection in this year's mock. Take it away, TAFKAMB!

With the second overall pick in the 2010 SB Nation NBA Mock Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers have selected Evan Turner, SG/SF, THE Ohio State Buckeyes.

TAFKAMB explains: Let me start off by saying I love cute things. Babies, dogs, any sort of tiny gadget, two-thirds of the Hanson brothers -- really anything. But with the 2nd pick of the draft, I don't want anything cute. Nothing against Evan Turner (swell-looking guy), but Derrick Favors, DeMarcus Cousins, and Wesley Johnson are the cute picks here. And I don't want them. GTFO cuteness. Especially in light of the superfluous workouts, I'm worried that Ed Stefanski is thinking about putting on his sundress, grabbing a cool long island ice tea and laying out by the beach. Sorry Ed, pick up a mid-1st or 2nd if you want to get cute. Evan Turner is the pick, and it's frankly not as close as people are making it.

The reigning NCAA POY scores, handles, defends, passes, and supports Drake. Does he have the best jump shot in the pool? No. But he's got a pretty nice form and keeps the defense honest - Or at least honester (yeah) than Andre Iguodala. The combination of Jrue Holiday-Turner-Iguodala makes me sweat in a good way. Whether or not Turner and Dre can play well together remains to be seen, but since we're in the business of opinions, I'll give you mine: Andre is versatile and talented enough to adapt to basically any role so there's no reason not to give them a try together at the wings. I'm pumped to see what the Bus Driver (Doug Collins) can do with him. Plus, the Villain is a terrific nickname so he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Ridiculous Upside reacts: Oddly enough, I agree with TAFKAMB on this one - and have slotted him there since they won the second overall pick in May's lottery. Turner was the NCAA Player of the Year and is probably the safest pick in the draft - I don't know how high his ceiling is, but he has a pretty high floor to make up for it.

Ridiculous Upside's Top 5 remaining prospects: 1 - DeMarcus Cousins, C, Kentucky. 2 - Derrick Favors, PF, Georgia Tech. 3 - Wesley Johnson, SF, Syracuse. 4 - Al-Farouq Aminu, F, Wake Forest. 5 - Greg Monroe, PF/C, Georgetown.

Sound off, SB Nation! What say you of the Turner-to-Philly pick (and TAFKAMB's 'explanation')? And please, be sure to check out Liberty Ballers for all of your Sixers needs.
