Yesterday I teased in my random story about me playing video games that I'd attempt to put a face to players in the D-League that you're eventually going to want to know about.   The first step in that process, though, is keeping you familiar with a group of players you should already know about.

The General D-League Blogosphere's Randy Livingston Memorial On The Edge Call-Up Rankings are back with a vengeance!

Since our last rankings came out (February 16th), the following nine players have been called-up: Antonio Anderson, Mike Harris, Reggie Williams, Will Conroy, Chris Richard, Garrett Temple, Othyus Jeffers, Alonzo Gee and Cedric Jackson.  That said, there were more call-ups in March last season than any other month, leading me to believe that while the talent pool is a bit picked over, the call-up's aren't going to stop.

Might as well rank 'em!

Well, we haven't done this for awhile, so the whole crew got together last night and sorted everything out, solidifying the perfect call-up rankings as compiled by the top D-League bloggers on the internet.  we all just plugged our rankings into a spreadsheet.

Also, the most interesting thing about these rankings is that we're all further apart than we've been in the previous installments, but the top five remained in the same order.  I can't really figure out why, and I'm not sure I like our varying opinions, but I'll guarantee you one of us is right!

Before we start, I wanted to clarify something: Don't think we're stupid because we didn't have Cedric Jackson or JamesOn Curry in our last call-up rankings.  Jackson was called-up because he knew the system, they were familiar and filled a need in an emergency. Curry was, by almost all accounts, a mistake.

With 10-day call-up's in full-effect and none of us spending the week in Boise, Idaho, we're proudly bringing the second rendition of the Randy Livingston Memorial "On The Edge" Call-Up Rankings.  And since I didn't explain why we've named them after Maine Red Claws assistant coach Randy Livingston, it's because he owns the record for most call-up's in the world.  Seriously.  Here's what I've learned of Livingston's career transactions, courtesy of ProSportsTransactions.com.

• His pick was traded THREE times before he was even drafted by the Rockets in 1996 as 42nd overall pick.
• For the 1997-98 season, he was signed three by the Atlanta Hawks.
  
• In the 98-99 season, he wasn't signed in the NBA until the Suns picked him up in May, where he played the following season.
• He was waived by the Sonics during the 2000-01 preseason, but was claimed off waivers by the Magic, who also cut him in the preseason.  The Warriors also gave him a six-day tryout in November.
  
• For the 2001-02 season, he went to camp with the Jazz, but was waived. He then picked-up two 10-day's and was later signed for the entire season by the Sonics. 
  
• He was signed, then waived, by the Timberwolves in the 2002-03 season.  He picked up a 10-day with the Hornets later in the season, though. 
  
• In March of the 2003-04 season, he picked up a 10-day with the Clippers. 
  
• During the 2004-05 season, he picked up two 10-day's and then was finally signed by the Jazz for the remainder of the season. 
  
• In 2005-06, he did the same with the Bulls. 
  
• Last, but not least, he picked up a 10-day contract with the Sonics on April 11, 2007. 

In the meantime, he played for non-NBA teams as follows: Sioux Falls Skyforce, Idaho Stampede, Gary Steelheads and Galatasaray in Turkey.

As you can see, we've collaborated with the top D-League blogger's in the universe (read: all that would answer my e-mail's) to come up with the top 10 players that are deserving of an NBA call-up.  While 10-day contract's aren't able to be handed out until January 5th, there's typically two or three call-up's before that date, which is why we've put our heads together to bring you this list.  As you'll remember last season, we alternated this type of post with a more specific list like this one.  More than likely, I'll put one of those together as well, just because it serves a different sort of purpose.
