Happy Randy Livingston Day!
Good morning! Happy Randy Livingston Day! Yep. Randy Livingston has a day all to himself in Idaho. April 10th. I was hoping there'd be a Randy Livingston montage out there on Youtube since he played in 203 NBA games (wearing the numbers 1,2,3,7,9 and 14 for nine different teams), but there isn't. Instead settle for this, where he made the 10th Italy-est play of the 96-97 season.
If you're wondering why an assistant coach with the Idaho Stampede gets a day to himself, here's the reason, from the press release:
The popular guard is the Stampede leader in season high assists (488 in 05-06 season), game high assists (23), all-time assist leader (1517), all-time games played (163), and all-time total points (2428). Livingston was a member of the 2003-04 CBA All-League Second Team and the 2006-07 All D-League First Team. He was also named the NBA Development League's Most Valuable Player for the 2006-07 season. Livingston received 19 NBA call-ups throughout his career.
He retired after winning a championship with Idaho last season, a season in which he averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 assists at the age of 33.
On Randy Livingston Day, which should be celebrated by the NBA as he would have tore it up had he not suffered a horrendous knee injury at LSU, there will be a lot of exciting things going on in Boise! Livingston's retired jersey banner will hang near the Idaho Stampede's 2008 Championship banner in Qwest Arena. In addition to the ceremony, the first 500 fans through the doors will receive a special Randy Livingston Jersey Koozie compliments of Budweiser.
I can't wait. I expect Rumble to have a full report on all of the happenings. Also, Idaho staff, Rumble brought up a good idea in the comments yesterday that I'd like to share: "Speaking of impeccable, you would think that the Stamps could have got the beer distributor to throw in 500 Joel Abelson Wine Cooler Coozies for fans 501-to-1000. That way I could get in line later, like 4:30 or so."
If you want to celebrate Randy Livingston Day the right way next year, I suggest you buy these Randy Livingston game worn Chicago Stags warm-up pants.

Just an FYI
I’m pissed the Stampede didn’t invite me to help with this. I actually was one half of the crew that retired Nate Robinson’s jersey at Summer League..

They never consider experience first....
sounds like some favoritism on the part of the Stampede Organization.

It is a cold and rainy day in the City of Trees...
…and I am not sure what this is going to mean for the Livingston/Abelson parade???
Due to the “SB Nation” being seriously behind the times, you will not be hearing much from me as I will be away from my computer most, if not all, of the day. However I will report in when I can from my mother’s basement which I call “Mommy’s sewing room” “the Dungeon of PAIN.” Sorry, too bad I was already banned from am too hip for a twitter account.
Our local sports talk show interviewed Randy yesterday. You can catch it here at the 21:20 mark: http://icecast1.fiberpipe.net:10000/file/09-04-09-Idaho_Sports_Talk.mp3
Yes, that is the same fiberpipe.net that delivers the top line FutureCast you have come to depend on for watch Stampede basketball in remote outposts like Bizmarkc.
Just as important as what is actually on the Livingston coozie (Scott, hello…Scott, weren’t you going to have a picture of that posted - Hello?!) is what in the world will be going on in Utah tonight for the Flash/14er double header tonight? Tie game - 25 seconds left. Who gets the ball? Can players that weren’t playing in that game now play?
Yeah, I would feel a LOT better if that game in Orem on Saturday meant nothing…so we need the Stamps to take care of business and the 14ers to take at least one of the two tonight.
Respecting my past but keeping my eye on the prize, Rumblegigitty
p.s. I remember reading about the Nate Robinson jersey retirement. There is now no official way you ever get hired for anything remotely controlled by David Stern. Which is a win for me, a win for this blog and for as for you…some must suffer for the good of the whole.
Have a nice day.

Actually, nope
Apparently he’s on a D-League sabbatical:
Watching Tanner ‘88. It’s interesting but so dated visually it’s hard to watch. But also, Cynthia Nixon in like her early 20s.
Jon L, come back. I’ll refer to you as Jon L again, I promise!

Why not just watch
Bullworth and call it a day. Is the D-league really that overwhelming?

I requested a picture yesterday AM
But Jinny said they weren’t there yet. She probably forgot about me, much like the rest of the world.
Colorado gets the ball, everyone can play.
I think I once watched a CBA championship game that’s archived on Fiberpipe once. I love Fiberpipe.
You spelled Bismarck wrong (Have to let you know or JRose will get angry).
Nobody is too hip for a Twitter account, least of all your Stamps - Lanny, Air Georgia, and Jamaal Tatum all have them.
My Nate Robinson jersey retirement will hurt no one. I was on Sportscenter’s Top 10 plays the next day. You can clearly see me and Bryan Wholey pulling the sheet off the jersey. Epic.

Trust me
It must have been removed. It was the number 10 play on either July 20th or 21st. I wish I’d had a blog at the time.

You need to use
your enormous D-League contacts book and make this video happen. Again.
