This is today so I've decided to move it back to the top.
Jamine Peterson flew under the radar for the majority of his time spent with the New Mexico Thunderbirds in the NBA Development League this season. He stood out when it mattered though, apparently, because the New Jersey Nets -- in conjunction with the New York Knicks and Houstons Rockets -- invited Peterson to be among the 44 prospects involved in this weekend's NBA pre-draft workout in preparation for the 2011 NBA Draft.
The workout will take place over two days with a large majority of the players looking like they are either just testing the waters and plan to head back to school or being projected as second round picks.
It'd be great to see more players involved in the workout, but as ESPN's Chad Ford notes, agents are probably holding their players out of this one for a couple of reasons.
You can likely blame agents for their decisions. They want to control the process, minimize the risk of injury (the workouts will include a 5-on-5 element) and are likely worried that their clients aren't in peak physical shape yet. Most of these players are working out with trainers and still need a few more weeks.
A full list of the players working out in front of executives from 26 of the NBA's teams is included after the jump. It'll be interesting to find out what the other teams have planned that they aren't sending somebody to New Jersey to watch 44 players.
