NBA Mock Draft Pick #1 -- Andrew Wiggins Forward, Kansas
SB Nation's Cavs blog Fear the Sword explains the pick:
The Cleveland Cavaliers were extremely disappointed to hear the bad news about Joel Embiid's fractured foot. The talented big man from Kansas seemed like an ideal prospect to add to the Cavs' young core. But Embiid's recent injury means there is just too much risk involved in taking him when there are other very good prospects available with the first overall pick. Therefore, the Cavs will pass on Embiid and settle for his teammate - Andrew Wiggins.
Wiggins is a tremendous athlete who projects to be a very good scorer and a potentially elite wing defender. He adds some much needed length to the Cavs and should fit well with the ball-handlers already on the Cleveland roster. Wiggins' biggest weaknesses right now are his ball-handling and his assertiveness. With Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters in the backcourt, Wiggins won't be thrown into a role that requires him to act as a primary facilitator right away. He will be able to play off of Cleveland's two young guards and develop at his own pace. Andrew Wiggins' potential is immense and there's plenty of reason to believe that he will blossom into a star in Cleveland.
