NBA Mock Draft Pick #8 -- Jaylen Brown, Small Forward, California
The Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings and Orlando Magic have agreed to a three team trade. The Sacramento Kings acquire Suns guard Brandon Knight and the #11 pick. Phoenix Suns acquire the #8 pick, Ersan Ilyasova and Devyn Marble. The Orlando Magic acquire Rudy Gay.
SB Nation's Suns blog, Bright Side of the Sun, explains their side of the trade and the subsequent pick:
With the Suns building a team around shooting guard Devin Booker, young forward Jaylen Brown can provide much-needed defensive presence along with bulldog Eric Bledsoe to hide Booker's limitations on that end. Brown can join a small forward rotation with offensive-minded T.J. Warren with Brown even sliding to power forward in some lineups, allowing the Suns to mix and match while providing both high-powered offense and high-powered defense.
Ridiculous Upside analysis: The Suns incredibly hectic draft continues as they trade guard Brandon Knight and acquire the 8th overall pick. Selecting Jaylen Brown, the Suns get a player that become an Andre Iguodala-type player with his athleticism and ability to cut to the rim. Standing at 6'7 with a 7'0 wingspan, Brown has the potential to guard multiple positions. That skill could allow him to be a very valuable two-way player for years to come.
