NBA Mock Draft: Memphis Grizzlies Select Ivica Zubac From Croatia

SB Nation's NBA Network conducted a mock draft with bloggers from each team site making or trading "their" team's pick. We continue with the next pick in the 2016 NBA Mock Draft, with Grizzly Bear Blues discussing their selection of Ivica Zubac.

NBA Mock Draft Pick #28 -- Ivica Zubac, Center, Croatia

SBNation's Memphis Grizzlies blog, Grizzly Bear Blues, explains the pick:

With the 28th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies select Ivica Zubac, Center, Mega Leks, originally from Bosnia and Herzagovina. The Grizzlies acquired Shelvin Mack and 42 overall in the draft plus this pick for 17 overall, and we are excited to bring Zubac to Memphis with this pick. Marc Gasol isn't getting any younger, and the team is seriously lacking size in the front court. Enter Ivica, who not only brings a 7'1" 265 frame to the Bluff City, but also an expansive offensive game, especially considering he is only 19 years old.

He dominated competition at such a young age overseas, showing soft hands and above average mobility for a young man his size, and we believe that noted developer of talent new Grizz HC David Fizdale can continue to grow his game on both sides of the court. Plus, he has a great mentor in Gasol, who also happens to be 7'1", 265 pounds (give or take a Soul Burger from Memphis' famed Earnestine and Hazel's bar) and a bit of an offensive dynamo. The Grizzlies would look for their wing help at 42 overall in this situation (Malcolm Brogdon, Ron Baker, etc.) and then also in free agency.

Ridiculous Upside analysis: Grizzly Bear Blues is right on with their analysis on Zubac, as he has an already solid offensive arsenal with the high upside. While he may need another year overseas to fine-tune his skills, Zubac can definitely become that solid center presence that the Grizzlies will need once Marc Gasol's prime years are behind him.
