NBA Mock Draft: Charlotte Hornets Select Ante Zizic from Croatia

SB Nation's NBA Network conducted a mock draft with bloggers from each team site making or trading "their" team's pick. We continue with the next pick in the 2016 NBA Mock Draft, with At The Hive discussing their selection of Ante Zizic.

NBA Mock Draft Pick #22 -- Ante Zizic, Center, Croatia

SBNation's Charlotte Hornets blog, At The Hive, explains their pick:

If there's one thing Rich Cho, Michael Jordan, and the Charlotte Hornets love, it's players who transcend their limitations with tremendous effort. With Kemba Walker, it's overcoming a lack of size. With Cody Zeller, a lack of length and shooting. With Michael Kidd-Gilhrist, it's that jumper. That's why the Hornets are selecting Ante Zizic of Croatia in the 2016 Draft.

Zizic is an unskilled but spirited center who scores and rebounds effectively in spite of his average size. At this point, Zizic relies on his great frame and sheer strength to get things done, and at just 19 years old he has considerable upside should he be brought up in a fostering environment. At best, he's a potential replacement for Al Jefferson in Steve Clifford's new offense. If he doesn't improve at all, the Hornets still have a high-energy garbage man that can fill in for 10 minutes a night. That's good enough for the Hornets at 22.

Ridiculous Upside analysis: Despite his average frame (7'0 with a 7'2 wingspan) and raw offensive skill set, Zizic stands as a solid NBA prospect. That's due to the great energy that he plays with whenever he's on the court, he constantly makes hard cuts to the rims and fights on the offensive glass. Those skills could allow him to be a solid roll man alongside Kemba Walker.
