NBA Draft 2011: Rumors, News And Notes For Memorial Day Weekend
Before we get to the NBA Draft stuff, I wanted to wish everyone a happy Memorial Day weekend -- and to drop a quick link reminding of the meaning behind the three-day weekend. Now? On to the news, notes and recent rumors!
Most interestingly, ESPN's Chris Broussard just dropped a bomb on Twitter regarding a blockbuster trade featuring three of the top picks in the 2011 NBA Draft. Read more about it over at SB Nation Minnesota and then feel free to discuss it in the comments here.
The Utah Jazz are having a pre-draft workout on Sunday featuring Markieff Morris, Jeremy Tyler, JaJuan Johnson, Shelvin Mack, Dallas Lauderdale and Norris Cole. Lauderdale's a pretty interesting name as I haven't heard his name mentioned since the Portsmouth Invitational but he did show some nice things with Ohio State.
My main man Michael Levin from Liberty Ballers does his best at defending what's being considered a pretty weak draft class. If nothing else, check it out for the graph he stole.
NBA.com says Tobias Harris is streaking up NBA Draft boards due to his work ethic. Interesting.
Anything else of interest out there?

Humorous read by Levin, loved it
Especially this, which pretty much sums up my feelings about this draft as well:
What this draft class does not have is the two or three blue chip prospects that you can say will definitely be a franchise cornerstone for the next 5-10 years. Kyrie Irving comes close, but because he only played 11 (fairly spectacular) games at Duke, there’s not as much certainty there as people had with Andrea Bargnani, Kwame Brown, Kenyon Martin, and Michael Olowokandi. Wait, what?
The fact is: Though we all like to bask in our very own musky, redolent aroma of overconfidence when it comes to how prospects will pan out in the NBA, nobody ever REALLY knows for sure. Guys like Lebron, Magic and Shaq who are just freaks of nature, often times are the exception, but really, if we actually knew what we were talking about, there’s no way we would have even been debating the top two slots in the ’04 draft, or countless other before and after it.
As for the Cavs looking to move up, I love it. That fan-base needs this type of agressiveness, but my question is: Where was this the last eight years when you had one of the best players the game has ever seen? It just makes no sense, but it would be cool to see them get the top two picks after everything they’ve been through.
Hyperboles kill.
There is no such thing as a "George Karl fan;" there are Karl apologists, and those who realize he should be fired.
