2011 NBA Draft Rumors Featuring New Mocks, Trades, Promises And Iman Shumpert
The 2011 NBA Draft is just 48 hours away, which is crazy. It also means that even since Ridiculous Upside posted rumors early Tuesday morning, there are enough for another batch just 12 hours later following a new batch of mock drafts and rumor posts from the big dogs.
Before we get to the rumors making their rounds, Jonathan Givony of Draft Express released his newest mock for Yahoo! and ESPN's Chad Ford put out his first two-round mock of the year. Just for fun, the excellent Eamonn Brennan also released a mock draft of his own, focusing solely on college production.
All sorts of good nuggets on information in those mocks, including the fact that Davis Bertans reportedly has a promise from the San Antonio Spurs, but it's probably best to just go read them rather than me trying to pick out the best stuff.
Speaking of Chad Ford, he also put out his own version of Ridiculous Upside's wildly popular NBA Draft rumors! Ford mentions quite a few potential trades, but the thing most interesting was his note regarding Iman Shumpert.
Shumpert, a point guard out of Georgia Tech who measured out very well physically and athletically at the NBA Combine, was apparently asked to quit working out with other teams after visiting the Knicks according to Ford. That didn't happen, however, partially because he could be drafted four picks ahead of New York if the Phoenix Suns take a gamble.
Aside from the above reading, it's probably not a bad idea to keep track of the rumors that Tom Ziller and company write about as they find them over at SB Nation's NBA Draft page.

I keep hoping Shumpert or Leslie fall to the Hawks in the 2nd. That’s not gonna happen with Shumpert.

Sounds like the lowest he could go is 30th
I’m trying to decide what I think about this.

I think it means this really is...
the worst draft in NBA history as most talking heads seem to be saying. Shumpert wouldn’t sniff the first round in any draft I can recall. He’s not a bad player, but his #s at GT sure seem to scream 2nd rounder at best in any normal draft class.

Not a chance
2000 is still a worse draft and the 2006 draft is probably on par with this one.

Agree on 2000 being the worst to date....
but that is what we’ll learn in hindsight. Is this draft 2006 (not good, but with at least some quality late) or 2000 (almost pure crap from top to bottom).

Shumpert lit my Tar Heels up something serious
This dude can ball. He just needs to turn the ball over less and stop gunning. He can do that on the right team.

Givony's mock makes me wonder if the Knicks are dead set on trading with Indy
with #17 and cash for their #15. Vucevic seems like the perfect fit for them and if that deal’s on the table and Philly’s dead set on him, they really can’t pass tat deal up.
But if they stay put like that, I’d be really pissed if they passed on Alec Burks tho Givony also states those other picks are available so maybe they can offer money for them.

Yeah
It’d be crazy if Burks fell that far.
