SBNation NBA Mock Draft, Pick #21: New Orleans Hornets

With the twentieth pick in the SBNation Mock Draft, the Charlotte New Orleans Hornets, represented by SBN's very own At The Hive, select... (Drum Roll please)

From ATH: Great. Pretty much everyone I wanted is gone. The Hornets' biggest need and best fit- DeJuan Blair- didn't fall to 21 here and certainly won't on draft night. Ty Lawson or Eric Maynor could assist the Hornets in moving out Antonio Daniels this year, but of course they're gone too. It came down to three options- Marcus Thornton, Austin Daye, or sell the pick to the Dream Shake. Thornton is the safe pick with limited upside, selling would be easily justifiable for the real life Hornets, and Daye... 6'11", sucks at rebounding, sucks at passing, turns the ball over, but he's long and has upside! (In related news, I just found out today that Jay Bilas is a practicing attorney in Charlotte and in 2000, "successfully defended [a] costume business against trademark-copyright action brought by owners of children's television character, Barney.")

So anyways, Austin Daye.

I feel like a kid in a candy shop, only all the good candies are gone, I have no money, and the shop kind of sucked to begin with.

It was only a matter of time....

I am not sold on this kid all. Monumental Bust. I predict that he is the POB of the SF spot.

With better free-throw form

It looks impeccable…

Yep

This is pretty much the line where I’d be down for NOH to sell the pick. I mean… Daye could be good and I’d root for him if he’s the pick. But yeah.

Your write-up was the best ever...

Just hilarious. I mean if you’re going to pick a possibly bad player, why defend it and talk yourself into the guy? You may as well just admit it’s a crap shoot and move along. Well done.
